Change is in the air.
I just read a fascinating article by Josh Bersin, celebrated thought leader in the HR space. Josh is basically the oracle of all things work. How we work, why we work, how to make a better work environment, etc.
This article is titled COVID-19 May Be The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Employee Engagement. Of course, true to Josh’s style, he has a lot of data and anecdotal evidence to create an support claims. I know of no one who has Josh’s ability to get such a view into companies… if Josh calls you, you take his call. And that allows him to tap into some of the most brilliant leaders and HR executives in the world.
Josh outlines 6 major changes that have come about because of COVID-19. While I was reading through this one thought I had was that not every company, or every industry, will see these changes. Sending some workers home to work is possible, but other workers have to be on-site. But the changes that have been initiated, even forced, from this global pandemic, will be far-reaching.
Check out Josh’s full article here. Print it out, highlight it, and take it to your management or leadership team for a discussion. Things are changing. Companies that shift, and adopt some of these changes, will be where employees want to work.
Engagement will move from being a buzzword that HR chases to something that is talked about from the top down as well as the bottom down.
Things are changing. Read Josh’s article, and then buckle up for changes in your own company and industry. Maybe you can even been on the forefront of changes!
