The year is almost over. I can sense hallways and offices feeling lighter as the vacation and holiday leave seem hours away. There are more calories on the common tables, some gifts, others holiday treats that your team has brought in. People are anxious to wrap things up and spend time with their families.
It’s a wonderful time of the year.
And it isn’t too late to give one more recognition at the office. Or maybe dozens more. Why not spend time expressing your gratitude to your team? This can be one-on-one in your office, or through a sincere, heart-felt email. However you do it, let your team know that you appreciate them. Let them know that they matter. Let them know that next year will be great.
This is what we call an intrinsic reward. It doesn’t cost anything, but it takes some time and thought. I bet there are employees somewhere out there who feel unappreciated, and not sure they care to come back to their company next year. Don’t let anyone on your team feel that. Just open your mouth and say “thank you.”
